Getting married takes on a whole new meaning when you’re past your late 20s’. It can be something that trigger insecurities and self doubt if you’re not already married or on your way to it. Researchers surveyed over 1200 adolescents and found that 95% think they will marry in the future.

Since getting married doesn’t seem like it’s going to go out of style anytime soon, I compiled a list of 4 things to consider before getting married. Just remember that even though research show that married people are happier than single, it’s less about being married than having social support in your life. Being single and having a strong network of friends that truly care will have the same effect.

1.     Money

Sure we all like to think that love trumps money but it’s actually one of the top reasons why people divorce. Being financially secure is also one reason why people wait to marry. Study shows that most people are willing to save up enough money to have the wedding they want and secure a steady income before marrying.

2.     Age and life experiences

Marrying when you’re too young has some downfalls. The thing about life experiences is that it helps you get to know who you are as a person and consequently what you want out of life and a partner. Most people also want to complete some key life goals before getting married such as graduating from college and buying a home.
